What time do your Sunday gatherings start at?

Do you have a Nursery for my baby or preschooler?

We have a wonderful staff of people who are here to serve you and provide wonderful care for your baby allowing you to enjoy the service without distraction or diversion. Toys and equipment are disinfected on a weekly basis and your children are cared for by people who have a passion for babies. Childcare is provided for all worship services.

 

 

Where will my children go during the service?

Your children will love First Baptist Church of Colfax! Children, births up to 2 years of age, are invited to our Nursery. We provide a safe, cozy nursery for infants through 2 years of age. We provide fun, hands-on Bible lessons and activities every Sunday morning designed especially to help children. Our children's ministry leaders are parents just like you. They value every child and treat them with the utmost care and attention.

 

One of the greatest concerns of young parents in looking for a church is quality of childcare. We understand this concern & have done everything possible to calm your parental fears. We can promise a fun, loving environment that helps your children feel church is a happy place where they are loved.

 

 

How big is your church?

We have approximately 175 resident members, and 125 on average attending worship service.

 

 

How old is your church?

The First Baptist Church of Colfax began in 1889. Check out our church history page for more information.

 

 

What is the preaching and music like?

Our service is a comfortable blend of traditional and contemporary, with piano, organ, and praise worship. We sing hymns as well as praise songs.

 

 

What should I wear to church?

Anything you like. We're more concerned with meeting your real life needs than what you wear. Dress usually ranges from blue jeans to business suits and ties -all are welcome!

 

 

Will I be welcome at First Baptist Church?

We welcome anyone, from any walk of life and in any stage of life to join our fellowship.

 

 

Will I have to stand up in front of people?

First Baptist Church guest are never called upon or pointed out, so don’t worry about being self-conscious. We recognize what it’s like to be in a new church! So while the people at First Baptist Church are genuinely attentive in getting to know you and want to make you feel welcome, we will never call on you or embarrass you in any way. You can relax and enjoy meeting people at your own pace. 

 

 

How do I become a member of First Baptist Church?

By Becoming a Christian through Profession of Faith and Baptism.

 

From Another Church?

While denominational differences are many, there are only three requirements for membership at First Baptist Church 1. A Proper Subject: personal profession of salvation by grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9); 2. A Proper Form: full immersion in the name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19); 3. A Proper Meaning, according to God's Word in Romans 6:4.

 

 

Do I have to be a Member to participate?

At First Baptist Church of Colfax you do not have to be a member to participate in any area of worship or a Bible study group! We offer many events and opportunities to the community, encouraging participation by all members and non-members. Membership is important though and we offer sessions that allow people interested in connecting with First Baptist Church in more significant ways to get plugged in.

 

 

How do I get plugged in with a ministry?

At First Baptist Church we try to make it easy to get involved. If you would like to be a part of any ministry, let us know! We have many ministries such as, Men's Breakfast, Women's Ministry, Nursery, Vacation Bible School, Awana, and our Young Adult Class, The Firestarters. We can help you find a place so you can use your God given talents.

What kind of church is First Baptist Church?

First Baptist Church is Bible based. Jesus Christ is the central focus. We are affiliated with the NCCBA, which is the North Central Conservative Baptist Association.

 

 

Why do newcomers make First Baptist Church their church home?

Based on feedback, it is clear that newcomers experience First Baptist Church as a safe, warm, and friendly place to be.  Preaching and teaching are Biblical and balanced. Leaders are not overbearing but committed to serve. Children are well cared for, and everyone feels the openness, comfort and encouragement of a caring Christian fellowship.
