The Values of First Baptist Church

• We value the Bible as God’s Word – Our authoritative and accurate, reliable and relevant source of Divine truth for all areas of faith and life, ministering grace and urging obedience.  2 Timothy 3:14-17
• We value the Great Commandments – Our highest command is to love God with our whole being. The second is to love others as we love ourselves.  Matthew 22:36-40
• We value the Great Commission – Our highest call is to go and make disciples of Jesus Christ and baptize them.  Matthew 28:18-20
• We value Worship – Our privilege is to give genuine heart felt worship and praise to our Triune God. Worship that is personal and corporate, and contemplative and enthusiastic. John 4:23-24
• We value a Christ-centered Life – Our desire is to experience our identity in Christ, knowing that we are saved, secure and significant.  In Christ we can be all He has called us to be, so we can live for Him.  Colossians 1:13-29
• We value a Holy Spirit empowered Life – Our continual surrender to the powerful work of the Spirit of God as evidenced by the filling and the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.  Galatians 5:22-26
• We value Loving Relationships – Our compassion for one another in the body of Christ, building each other up by encouragement, edification and caring for the needs of each other.  John 13:34-35
• We value Equipping the Saints – Our study of the Bible through preaching and teaching, counseling and prayer, personal discipleship and leadership training. Helping believers to serve within the church body and our communities with their spiritual gifts, passions and callings from God.  Ephesians 4:11-16
• We value Spiritual Maturity – Our growth from the milk of the word to the meat of the word, and to grow from spiritual newborns to spiritual saints faithfully living obedient holy lives.  Hebrews 5:11-14
• We value Witnessing – Our willingness to share the gospel with lost people in our spheres of influence.  This includes praying for the lost, building relationships, sharing our testimony, inviting them to church services and ministry events, and being lights reflecting Christ in our local communities. 1 Peter 3:15
• We value Global Missions – Our commitment to making a difference with the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world through our prayers, financial support, connecting with internationals in our country, and personal relationships with those who carry the gospel on our behalf.  Acts 1:8
• We value our Heritage – Our history can serve as a record and resource of God’s faithfulness that can encourage us to develop relevant and engaging approaches to our present and future ministry.  Psalm 105:1- 5
